Tesla increased the price of its electric vehicles (EVs) in the United States, including the Tesla Model 3, Model S, and the Model X.
The giant EV maker of no less than Elon Musk now retails its lineup for a significantly heftier price tag, going as high as a staggering markup of $6,000.
Tesla EV Price Increase
As per a news story by Electrek, Tesla also had a couple of price increases in 2021, no thanks to the raging supply shortage mess.
But in 2022, the giant automaker had a bit of a slowdown with its price increase. Instead of doing it on a monthly basis like in 2021, the massive price changes skipped a few months this year.
Electrek was more specific about it. The news outlet says that the last significant price increase that the EV maker had was still in March 2022.
While Tesla also updated some of the prices of its long-range vehicles, it was merely a minor change. And in May, the prices of its EV lineup in the US remained untouched.
Tesla's New Prices in June
But as we hit the mid-year mark this June, Tesla is introducing new pricing for its EVs, giving it a staggering increase this time around.
According to a recent report by Tesla North, the prices of Tesla vehicles have been updated to a more expensive tag starting June 15.
The Tesla Model Y is part of the massive price changes. The Performance model of the all-electric mid-size SUV gets a $2,000 increase.
The EV maker now retails the top-of-the-line Model Y for $69,990, up from its previous cost of $67,990.On the other hand, its Long Range variant now costs $65,990 due to its $3,000 markup.
The price of the Model 3 sedan also inflated, but Tesla spares its Performance model from the increase. The Long Range version now sells for $57,990. It used to cost only $55,990, but it is now up by $2,000.
On top of that, the Model S Long Range received a whopping $5,000 price increase. So, it now carries a price tag of $104,990, up from $99,990.
The Model X Long Range got the highest price increase to the tune of $6,000. On the flip side, its Plaid option did not update its pricing.
