"Shantae," WayForward's hero, brings massive Nintendo eShop discounts of up to a whopping 50% off to celebrate her 20th anniversary.
The gaming title of game publisher WayForward, which goes by the name "Shantae" first saw the light of day two decades ago.
The titular half-genie hero of the game, Shantae, is now celebrating her 20th anniversary.
'Shantae' of WayForward 20th Anniversary
As per a news story by Nintendo Life, the character from the WayForward gaming title was born long ago in 2002.
Shantae first came to life when the hottest rave those days was the Game Boy Color of Nintendo. It was a time when the idea of waiting for the next PS5 restock was still not a thing, and the Switch has yet to be debuted.
The game of the titular hero-genie was available back then on the Game Boy Color. After nearly a decade, Shantae made her long-awaited comeback, thanks to the release of "Shantae's Risky Revenge" in 2010.
In 2020, WayForward gave Shantae fans another gaming title, the "Seven Sirens," for Nintendo Switch gamers.
And this time around, another decade has passed since her comeback, marking the 20th anniversary of the WayForward title.
WayForward commemorated her comeback on Twitter, saying, "Twenty years ago today, the original Shantae game was released on Game Boy Color, and a fan-favorite franchise was born!"
The tweet also attached a photo of the half-genie heroine with the copy "Thank you for 20 years!"
