Nintendo 3DS, Wii U eShop shut down is now being called out by the non-profit organization, Video Game History Foundation, saying that the move is "destructive."
Nintendo 3DS, Wii U eShop Shut Down
As per a recent report by Polygon, Nintendo announced last Feb. 16 that it is closing down the eShop for the iconic Nintendo 3DS gaming handheld and the Wii U console.
The Nintendo eShop for both gaming devices has been offering its users thousands of digital gaming titles, as well as other free content and demos.
That said, once the Nintendo eShop for the two classical gaming platforms has shut down, players of Wii U and 3DS will not be able to purchase and download digital games, demos, and free content anymore on both systems.
The shut down of the Nintendo eShop for Wii U and 3DS is set to take place more than a year from now or in March 2023 to be more precise.
Since then, its closure, which makes more than 2,000 games no longer available for purchase, has been faced with massive criticism from the online community.

Video Games History Foundation on Wii U, 3DS Closure
This time around, according to a news story by Nintendo Life, the latest move of the Japanese gaming tech giant has already caught the attention of the Video Game History Foundation.
The news outlet noted that it is a non-profit organization, which specifically advocated for both the celebration and preservation of games, as its name clearly suggests.
The Video Game History Foundation has already released its statement regarding Nintendo's decision to close down the 3DS and Wii U eShop.
Its official statement started by noting that the closure is "unfortunate," which will soon make purchasing digital games for the two systems impossible.
Nevertheless, the non-profit org acknowledges the situation of Nintendo, calling it "business reality."
However, the foundation went on to say that: "What we don't understand is what path Nintendo expects its fans to take, should they wish to play these games in the future."
On top of that, Video Game History Foundation further added that the move of Nintendo from barring any commercial access is also "understandable."
However, the foundation says the closure of the eShop, which would prevent the institutional preservation of thousands of gaming titles affected, is "actively destructive" to the history of video games.
