A new long-lasting Tesla EV battery is now being studied by the automaker together with an advanced Canada-based research group.
They claim that this new version can last up to 100 years. If this is true, then the new electric car cell can greatly help the environment as it no longer needs replacement.
For the past few years, EV batteries have commonly lasted between 10 to 20 years. But, this scenario can change once Tesla starts working on the new nickel-based electric cell.
Involved experts claim that this new EV battery might offer the same performance as LFP cells' when it comes to energy and charging density.
New Long-Lasting Tesla Battery Now Being Studied
According to Electrek's latest report, the Tesla Advanced Battery Research group, which was established by the automaker back in 2016, described a new nickel-based battery in their new study.

The ongoing EV battery cell study is being worked on by Michael Metzger, as well as other PhDs involved in the Tesla program.
Based on their findings, the new nickel-based Tesla EV battery's longevity performance is quite comparable with the one offered by LFP models.
It can do this while maintaining the properties that other nickel-based batteries have.
"Ultra-high precision coulometry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy are used to complement cycling results and investigate the reasons for the improved performance of the NMC cells," said the Tesla Advanced Battery Research experts.
The Electrochemical Society journal published its findings this May. If you want to see further details about the new Tesla nickel-based EV battery, you can visit this link.
Tesla Indonesia EV Battery Factory?
Aside from the new nickel-based EV battery, The Driven reported that Tesla is also making other efforts to enhance its electric car cell business.
One of these is the new EV and battery storage factory that the automaker will build in Indonesia. Once this facility is completed, it might further enhance Tesla's production performance.
Meanwhile, Texas Tesla owners said they received a charging warning message as the heatwave worsened.
On the other hand, Tesla Model X's delivery date has been delayed once again.
