Spotify's monthly active users drastically increased, based on the latest Q1 2022 financial earnings report of the app's CEO Daniel Ek.
"We delivered another strong quarter building on the momentum from 2021. Grateful for the tireless work of the @Spotify team on behalf of creators and listeners around the world," said Daniel via his official Twitter announcement.
This happened despite the ongoing issues with Spotify, such as its operation suspension in Russia and the latest controversy with Joe Rogan.
Spotify Monthly Active Users Increased by 182 Million
According to Engadget's latest report, the monthly active users of Spotify grew up to 422 million. Around 182 million of them were new subscribers of the Spotify Premium account.
This record was achieved despite the boycotts of some consumers because of Joe Rogan's issue.
The popular podcaster was criticized because of a recent interview with Dr. Robert Malone, who claimed that he was the creator of the mRNA tech.
But, many health professionals debunked this claim, saying that the statement of Malone was false. Because of this, they decided to file a complaint.
They asked Spotify to fight vaccine misinformation, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic is still affecting many countries across the globe.
On the other hand, the music platform announced that they would drop Rogan's podcasts. However, it didn't happen. Instead, Spotify said it would add a content advisory label to Rogan's episodes with repeated disinformation content.
Some are Added Due To the Spotify Login Issue
Spotify's Q1 2022 report explained that millions of the new active monthly users were added because of the recent login issue.
The platform explained that around three million users decided to create new accounts since they were not able to log in to their older ones.
Of course, Spotify saw this as a positive improvement in its MAUs. If you want to see further details of the latest financial earnings of Spotify this 2022, you can view this link.
Recently, the Spotify Android bug forced the music platform to roll out a new update to fix the issue.
On the other hand, some Spotify offices in Russia closed. But, they clarified that their services will still continue.
