A new leak about the Google Pixel Watch gives us a closer look at what it's going to look like. The keyword here is "soft."
According to TechRadar, the leak was first revealed by Android Central via Twitter. And it shows what looks to be a minimalist design - just a shiny black circle on top of a seemingly brushed metal frame, with the "G" logo illuminated on top. It bears a striking resemblance to an old smartwatch from the company Zepp E which released back in 2020.
Here is the tweet with the leaked image:
As per Android central, Google's upcoming smartwatch has also already had its name trademarked and is perhaps nearing an official launch - specifically at the tech giant's I/O event scheduled for May. The trademark was filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office, where the name is bannered in all caps for everyone to see: Pixel Watch. So now at least we know its definitive name.
You can also see a side button on the watch. Furthermore, Android Central also says there's a rotating crown feature that looks like a 1950s bottlecap. But in terms of design flair, that is it. There's not much else. Minimalist could even be the biggest understatement of the year in terms of this design, and it is a clear indication that Google wants to go a different route compared to Apple.
For its upcoming version of the Apple Watch, the Cupertino giant has been rumored to go for a "rugged" or more durable design approach. Rumors swirling back in late 2021 say that Apple is designing the watch for extreme sports, as per the original Tech Radar report.
Apple is perhaps deep in their preparations for the launch of their new wearable, and this is indicated in their recent moves. As per reliable leaker Ming-Chi Kuo, the company has already decided to phase out their Watch Series 3 because "it can't meet the requirements of the new watchOS."
It's speculation at this point, but this could be linked to the impending release of their new smartwatch.

Everything We Know About The Google Pixel Watch So Far
It seems like there are more and more leaks involving Google's new smartwatch. Here's a collection of the most notable so far, courtesy of Tom's Guide. But before you go, a disclaimer: none of these are confirmed until stated otherwise.
Release date: As previously mentioned, there were hints that the Pixel Watch is going to be announced at the I/O event this May. But the actual release of the watch is not until October. It is going to be reportedly "teased" alongside the official announcement of the Pixel 6a smartphone.
Price: Here's perhaps one thing that will be certain: it's not going to cost as much as an Apple Watch. No figures have been leaked yet, but considering how competitors are priced, it could very well cost between $249 (Galaxy Watch 4 price) and $399 (Apple Watch Series 7 price).
