Tesla employee got the new Model Y sporting a 4680 structural battery, which the new owner claims to be "one of the first" that was made in the new facility, the Gigafactory in Austin, Texas.
Tesla Model Y with 4680 Battery: Made from Giga Texas
The EV tech giant unveiled the new version of the Tesla Model Y electric SUV during the Cyber Rodeo event, which enthusiastically celebrated the grand opening of the Gigafactory Texas.
As per a news story by Teslarati, the CEO and founder of Tesla, billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, boasted that the new facility in Texas is "the highest-volume car factory in America.
The Tesla boss said that the new Tesla Gigafactory is slated to produce more than a million electric vehicles every year.
The tech billionaire went on to disclose that roughly 500,000 of the EV production in the Giga Texas will be the new Model Y SUV.
Apart from the production goal announcement, the tech CEO added that Tesla is swiftly delivering the new Tesla Model Y to some of its first owners during the night of the grand opening event.
After which, some of the Model Y seen from the stage of the Cyber Rodeo was rolled off to mark that the deliveries of the new SUV had officially started.
On top of that, Musk also described the all-new Model Y as "revolutionary," highlighting that it now comes with a structural battery pack via the new Tesla 4680 battery.
The Tesla founder went on to note that the new Model Y flaunts improved efficiency and safety.
Tesla's Employee and New Model Y
According to a recent report by Tesla North, a Tesla employee has already got her hands on what she says is "one of the first" new Tesla Model Y with the 4680 battery cells that were produced at the new Giga Texas automobile factory.
The Process Engineering Technician at the Tesla Giga Texas, Regan Janssen, posted the monumental delivery of the new Model Y on her Linkedin account.
The Tesla employee went on to post a photo of her posing in front of her new Model Y.
She proudly stated that she started her career with the EV tech giant, which she dubs "an incredible opportunity."
