Currently, China's largest city is already on its eight-day lockdown.

"#Shanghai's strict lockdown has been extended indefinitely, and it's still impossible to order food and water," said BCC journalist Edward Lawrence via his official Twitter post.

Due to the lockdown extension, Tesla is experiencing more difficulty in its Gigafactory Shanghai. Now, the automaker told its suppliers and staff at the manufacturing plant that the suspension would continue.

The EV developer added that the factory's reopening might happen on Friday, Apr. 8. However, the company is still not 100% sure regarding this expected restart production date.

Current Situation of China, Shanghai

Quartz reported that the Shanghai citywide lockdown is worsening as days go by. As of the moment, authorities are implementing stricter COVID-19 safety measures.

Although they are making drastic efforts, the infected cases continue to increase, with more than 17,000 new cases recorded on Tuesday, Apr. 5.

What makes the lockdown worst is the chaotic access to food and basic necessities. Because of this, many residents are now complaining about the government agencies' poor coordination.

But, this may still change since authorities are doing their best to lessen new COVID-19 infected cases.

On Apr. 3, Taiwan finally received new Tesla Model 3 police cars.

Recently, Giga Texas welcomed the new Tesla Cybertruck.
