Tesla Gigafactory Gets Praise From Volkswagen's Herbert Diess

As per a news story by Teslarati, the Volkswagen CEO, Diess, himself has blurted out praises for the Tesla Giga Texas after recently visiting the facilities of the EV maker last weekend.

The Volkswagen Group CEO and Chairman said that the new facilities of the giant EV maker are bringing the standards of electric vehicles to the next level.

The automotive exec said in his recent post on LinkedIn that the Tesla Giga facility in Texas was impressive for him.

On top of that, Diess also said that once the new facilities of Tesla are already up and running, "it will very likely set some new benchmarks" for the market of electric vehicles.

He further said in the post that the Gigafactory has everything under one roof, noting that, in turn, it would no longer require "logistics from cell production to final assembly."

The VW CEO also mentioned that the CEO and founder of Tesla, Elon Musk, calls the new factory of the EV maker "a machine that produces the machines."

The auto execs also said in the same LinkedIn post that the new Tesla facility also is now close to its production, two years after it got a deal with the Texas governor Gregg Abbott.

The Volkswagen boss visited the new Giga Texas of Tesla as part of the SXSW film festival in Austin, wherein the German automaker is also showcasing its upcoming electric van, the ID BUZZ, according to a recent report by AutoEvolution.

The news outlet noted as well that Musk himself previously visited the auto plant of Volkswagen in Wolfsburg.

The Tesla Gigafactory has been getting high-profile visitors recently as it gears up to start its production of the Tesla Model Y electric crossover, which is powered with 4680 batteries in total.

On top of that, the Giga Texas will also be the home of the upcoming gigantic electric pickup truck of the EV maker, the Tesla Cybertruck.

In fact, as Tesla is preparing to start its production in Giga Texas, some of the prominent figures that have visited the facility, aside from the VW CEO, includes the United States Labor Secretary, Marty Walsh.
