The upcoming Intel Core i9-12900KS is not yet out in the market, yet it seems that a customer has already got a feel for it. According to the latest report, one buyer shared some screenshots of this special edition chip which has not yet landed in the stores.
Here is what it looks like at first glance and what features could we expect from this processor.
Intel Core i9 12900KS First Photos Revealed
As French tech site Overclocking spotted on Tuesday, March 15, it appears that the first copies of the new Intel processor came out already even though there's no announcement yet from the company itself.
According to the article, the i9-12900KS was first introduced during CES 2022 when Intel presented it to the viewers and other tech firms. Overclocking included in its report that a user named Daginatsuko managed to share some glimpses of the 12900KS with them.
Judging from the shared pictures, it's noteworthy to mention that this CPU arrives with a fresh box design. It's also obvious that the shade of blue in this box is darker compared to the box of the 12900K chip.
That's the only thing that we could see here. The box contains unique lettering which reads "Special Edition." This means that the i9-12900KS is somewhat a special Intel model which could boast more extreme performance than its predecessor.

What to Expect For i9-12900KS
Tom's Hardware, in another report, described the new processor as the "newest" member of the special edition Intel CPUs. Its clocking is next to none since it's considered to be the fastest Alder Lake chip that is existing at the moment.
As of press time, Intel has not yet disclosed the verified specs for this new Intel chip, but Tom's Hardware said that it could sport a 3.5GHz base clock on top of the 5.5GHz peak turbo clock.
Moreover, the report indicated its absurd 5.2GHz which is one great feat that only i9-12900K can do in a single core. Speaking of performance benchmarks, the initial test revealed that the new process might only have an 11.6% edge over the 12900K when it comes to CPU benchmarks.
It's important to know that there's a decrease of 4.1% in its performance gap in the context of single-threaded testing. This is something that buyers should take note of before buying it.
As for its pricing, the chipmaker remained mum about it but some early reports speculated that it could go at $750. If we consider this value for today's standards, the pricing could lag behind the i9-12900K.
So far, what we only know is that it might come in late March so we expect some announcements anytime from Intel. In the next few weeks, we could also anticipate the gradual rollout of the product in select retailers worldwide.
Elsewhere, Intel announced its plans to build a semiconductor site in Germany.
