With the success of "The Witcher" on Netflix being the talk of the town, new reports are hinting at a potential "God of War" TV series. To add, the report points towards not just any TV series but rather a new live-action adaptation.

God of War TV Series: a Project Between Amazon Studios and Sony's PlayStation Productions Unit

The real deal, however, is that the upcoming TV series might not be aired on Netflix. Instead, it could potentially be aired on Amazon's streaming service.

This is said to be due to current talks regarding a potential live-action adaptation of the "God of War" between Amazon Studios and Sony's PlayStation Productions unit, according to the story by Deadline.

To add the excitement, word has already gone out regarding who might be involved in the project.

What is Known About the Project So Far?

As of press time, Deadline hints "Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby... are involved in the project." If these names sound familiar, this is because the two are best known for their work on "The Expanse," according to The Verge, and "Children of Men," per NewStatesmen.

Aside from both Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby's involvement, not much is known regarding the upcoming "God of War" adaptation.

Both Amazon and Sony declined to say anything when reached for comment by the publication.

God of War Among the Longest-Running Franchises in Sony's Collection

One of the most notable things about "God of War" is that it is among the longest-running franchises in Sony's collection. The franchise has been playable on four different consoles and spanned seven mainline games.

It has has been three years since the last entry to the "God of War" series. The video game franchise is known for taking a deep look at one of the story's most peculiar characters, the son of Kratos, Atreus, and the rest of the Norse gods.

New 'God of War' Sequel

According to the story by Engadget, this year is the year that a new "God of War" sequel is expected to come out. As of press time, the upcoming game is reportedly in development and not much has been confirmed about the latest installment in the franchise.

Should the reports be confirmed, the upcoming "God of War" TV series would be the fourth gaming title to get its own TV treatmen from the new PlayStation Production unit that Sony has just recently established.

As of press time, the division already has three projects that are expected to come out. One of the most anticipated series to come out is "The Last of Us" by Naughty Dog. The game developer will be working with HBO on the TV series.
