A gamer discovered why they were having a hard time playing one of the newest games out there, "Elden Ring." According to the gamer, in order to really play the game properly, it is important not to play it like one would an Ubisoft game.
'Elden Ring's' Level of Difficulty
According to the story by TechRadar, the gamer noted that "Elden Ring" is the first ever FromSoftware game that they tried out despite knowing the game's reputation for being extremely difficult.
Per the gamer, this was proven when one of the first enemies that they decided to walk up to was able to easily kill them in just two blows.
In addition, the gamer realized the reason they were struggling was because they were playing the game wrong.
Why Players Struggle with 'Elden Ring'
The gamer noted that they approached the game like they would an Ubisoft open world game. Unlike "Assassin's" Creed where players can simply jump into a group of enemies and be able to take them down, "Elden Ring" makes this very difficult to do due to the high chances that the character will die.
The gamer explained that "Assassin's Creed" as well as "Far Cry" games allow players to become more powerful with weapons, which allows them to easily take down enemies.
In "Elden Ring," however, every stat increase reportedly "feels like a blessing" due to the difficulty of the game.
How 'Elden Ring' Differs from Other Games
When it comes to Elden Ring, however, most enemies already have a set level. This means that players can go away and do other things in order to earn the game's currency, runes, and level up. Once players are stronger, they can then go back and take down the enemies.
The article, however, notes that "Elden Ring" is not perfect and that its design decisions remain a bit complicated for newbies. The writer of the article notes that although they appreciate the game being more of a challenge than usual, the lack of instructions can be quite difficult for players.

An example of this is how the gamer had to research online how to simply open the map. To add, instructions for users to upgrade their flasks and weapons also make things more confusing compared to how they need to be.
The gamer then commended FromSoftware for creating the "anti-Ubisoft game" that really pushes their expectations and even highlights just how easy Ubisoft games have started to become.
'Elden Ring' is Selling More Than 'Cyberpunk 2077' in the UK
According to an article by USA Today, "Elden Ring" is actually selling more in the United Kingdom compared to one of the highest selling games, "Cyberpunk 2077."
The article notes that a whopping 68% of the sales of "Elden Ring" were all digital with both the PC and the Xbox being the top digital platforms.
