Hogwarts Legacy news since its debut amid the PlayStation State of Play last year has been slim to none in diagnosing the scope of the experience. All fans currently have to go on for WB Games and Avalanche Studio's magical rpg is its cinematic trailer, which doesn't leave much to go on aside from an overall setting and a baseline feel.
Recent developments, however, point to a potential gameplay reveal portkeying into the hands of fans in no time. According to Twitter user Troy Leavitt, a Hogwarts Legacy trailer featuring gameplay is inbound within the next week. Leavitt replied to a post from Podcast Now, who revealed a Hogwarts Legacy announcement would be "5 more days" away.
Believing random users on the internet may not always net the most useful information, but Leavitt's description and picture reveal he may well be on the Hogwarts Legacy dev team. Leavitt's Twitter description labels him as a "video game developer since 1995," yet when coupled with his photo of a Hogwarts Slytherin house art, it's clear he has a certain fondness with the franchise that may well extend to an employment at Avalanche.
In his reply, Leavitt left most of the answers still on the table, as he neither confirmed nor denied the rumor posited by Podcast Now. Leavitt did, however, relay that "the timing seems about right to me," proving that a Hogwarts Legacy trailer potentially featuring gameplay will debut sometime amid the week of Monday, March 7.

There is little else to go on, unfortunately, as both WB Games and Avalanche have remained mostly quiet since 2021. The reveal trailer was met with mostly positive acclaim, as both the setting and the time period set it aptly apart from the story of Harry Potter. To some fans' glee, Hogwarts Legacy also has limited input via JK Rowling, whose latest voiced anti-transgender opinions rightfully angered fans.
As to an official Hogwarts Legacy release date, it's genuinely anyone's best guess at this point in time, though a gameplay trailer may prove to quell the conundrum. Still, as of yet, several key details point to a potential September 2022 debut window, as the video game's official artbook drops on September 6.
Additionally, in parallel with the real world, it kind of makes sense for WB to publish the game around the same time as school starts up again following summer break. It acts as a gamified spin on the narrative itself, wherein players are literally entering Hogwarts at the start of the school year.
Although Hogwarts Legacy news has been incredibly scarce, the anticipation and acclaim is still there in the months leading closer to its official debut. If Leavitt's words are true, and there's no reason not to believe them, then fans can rejoice in the forthcoming reveal of Hogwarts Legacy gameplay in no time.
