Google has released a lot of tech gadgets over the past years. Starting from its Pixel phones, the search engine giant continues to look forward to expanding its products in the market.
Recently, some reports pointed out that 2022 could be the year for the release of the most awaited Pixel Watch. The smart wearable will rely on Wear OS so users can use its features and other capabilities.
On top of that, this smartwatch can potentially adopt skin interface gestures, according to a previous patent.
Pixel Watch 'Skin Interface' Gestures
Dutch tech site LetsGoDigital recently spotted a 2020 patent filing called "Skin interface for Wearables: Sensor fusion to improve signal quality." According to the publication, it was filed by Google to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
With that, we expect a lot of new things that could be incorporated with the Pixel Watch. At some point, we would be able to do some gestures on the skin to take control of the wearable device.
According to the source, this feature could be similar to what Google's True Wireless Earbuds have. Specifically, this feature dubbed "Skin interface" gestures could allow the users to swipe their skin in particular areas where the smartwatch is placed.
Additionally, the said feature will work as an input option for a gadget such as a smartwatch and smart glasses. Through the accelerometer and multiple sensors, the users can generate gestures on the skin which will later make a "mechanical wave."
In connection with this, Sony used to bring "Wide Area Tap," a feature that was brought to Link Buds. The user can activate it by tapping the skin in front of the ear.

Same 'Skin Interface' Feature' For Huawei
Similarly, Huawei was reportedly developing the same smartwatch feature in 2018. At that time, Phone Arena mentioned that a user can press his/her skin using a finger to generate a letter on the display of the wearable device.
Furthermore, if Google pushes through this "skin interface" patent, we could potentially anticipate it to be included in the Pixel Watch product. We might see it as well as the Pixel Buds model that might be released in the future.
Regarding the official launch of the Pixel Watch, we might witness its entrance to the tech market in May. It will be announced during the annual Google I/O Developer Conference of the company.
In other news, Tech Times previously wrote an article about the Google Pixel Watch leaks back in December 2021. At that time, the insiders said that it would be a new wearable project that would operate under project "Rohan."
For the latest report, the Google Pixel smartwatch is reportedly adopting new colors other than the current colorways gold, gray, and black. The article included that the possible renders might add orange and sky blue color options.
