An upcoming WhatsApp feature has just been discovered, revealing the messaging app wanting to add polls to its group chats. Aside from the polls, WhatsApp is also reportedly tweaking its app with new UI changes to its camera, global voice player function, and more.
WhatsApp Polls is Currently Under Development
As initially reported by WABetainfo, the upcoming WhatsApp polls feature is already under development. This means that even public beta testers can try the upcoming feature out for now.
The website notes that "thanks to polls," users can finally ask a question, and people within the group chat will be able to vote on the answer. It was also noted that the polls feature will only be available in WhatsApp groups and will also be end-to-end encrypted.
Answers within WhatsApp Polls Will be End-to-End Encrypted as Well
The website emphasizes that this means that the answers given within the group chat will also be end-to-end encrypted as well. Additionally, it was highlighted that the only people who will see the results are those within the group chat.
According to the story by 9to5Mac, it still remains unclear as to how WhatsApp will decide to take on this feature. This means it is unknown whether there will be only a limited number of answers possible, the timeframe on which users within the group can vote, or how many participants the created poll can have at a given time.
WhatsApp Also Working on Reactions Feature
It is also important to notice that these won't be the only features that the platform is preparing to release to its users. An example of this is the much-awaited Reactions feature, which many users are still waiting on.
WhatsApp Reactions will allow "users to react to specific messages," which is something that other platforms like Facebook and Telegram have already been doing for quite a while. With this being said, multi-device compatibility 2.0 is also something that the company has been working on.

When Did Meta (Facebook) Buy WhatsApp and for How Much?
The multi-device compatibility 2.0 will allow users to connect to even more devices, including a smartphone or even a particular iPad. The platform is also working on an Apple tablet version for WhatsApp.
With the addition of polls, WhatsApp will be getting another feature that has already been on Facebook Messenger for quite a while now. This, however, isn't really a surprise due to both companies being owned by Meta.
The app had long been in Meta's possession even before the company decided to change its name from its then "Facebook." WhatsApp was originally purchased by Meta back in 2014 for about $19.3 billion.
