WhatsApp is getting an update that includes five new upgrades. These upgrades are comprised of a better two-step verification, message reactions, and more.
As a Meta-owned chat app, WhatsApp is getting a lot of features that other apps owned by Meta are also using.
WhatsApp Gets a Major Features Updated
Articles by WABetaInfo have showed different beta WhatsApp releases and discoveries that include some upcoming features, according to the story by T3. The story compiled five upcoming features WhatsApp is going to get.
Here are the Five Upcoming WhatsApp Features:
1. Message Reactions
Users will finally be able to use a feature that has long been available on different messaging apps like Discord, Messenger, Slack, and more. Specifically, users will finally be able to react to messages with different choices of emojis.
The reactions were initially spotted back in September 2021 by WABetaInfo. It showed how users can quickly react to messages with emojis in individual chats and group chats.
2. Better Two-Step Verification
Another article by WABetaInfo showed that WhatsApp was testing out two-step verification improvements. The improvements are expected to upgrade the messaging app's security.
It should be noted that as of press time, the feature is not yet available yet.
3. Communities
WhatsApp is currently testing out its Communities feature, which "expanded group chat feature" according to T3. This Comminuties feature could include people coming from outside of the users' contact list.
The feature was detailed in an article by XDA-developers.
4. Voice Call Wallpapers
Based on the January beta, WABetaInfo found out that WhatsApp is now working on adding wallpapers for voice calls.
As of press time however, there is also no information yet as to when this feature will be rolled out to the public.
5. Animated Heart Emoji
As reported in yet another WABetaInfo, there could be animated heart emoji features coming to WhatsApp. In addition, the feature has actually been in development for quite a while, but it currently looks like it will be releasing some time soon.

WhatsApp Beta 2.22.72 Upcoming Features
With a number of new features expected to launch on the WhatsApp beta 2.22.72, the animated heart emoji is one of the highlighted features by T3. As for the other features, however, users will still have to wait for the release of the new update to know what will really be launching on the messaging app.
With the popularity of WhatsApp, the chat application is updating its features to match not only the other messaging apps owned by Meta, but also those coming from other companies like Telegram and Discord.
Despite the competition, the messaging platform has still been able to keep a strong user-base. According to Statista, WhatsApp has about two billion monthly active users as of 2021.
