New TikTok Community Guidelines are expected to arrive this coming March. The social media platform provided all the details of the update.
One of the issues that the guideline changes are expected to solve is minor's safety.
"We prohibit activities that perpetuate the abuse, harm, endangerment, or exploitation of minors on TikTok," said TikTok via its official Community Guidelines page.
Specifically, the app will ban content posted by users below 16 years old. This change and other updates will commence on Mar. 7.
New TikTok Community Guidelines for Minors
According to News Week's latest report, TikTok's new system will detect the videos posted by individuals below 16 years old.
This means that if you are 15 years old and below, then your content will not appear on TikTok's FYP (For You Page).
On the other hand, you will also be restricted from using TikTok's direct message feature. Aside from this, minors are also prohibited from conducting live streams.
Meanwhile, those who are below 18 years old will not be able to receive or send gifts via TikTok's virtual gifting features.
Minors' safety is just one of the issues that the giant video platform is trying to solve.
Other Issues TikTok is Trying To Solve
Aside from the safety of its young users, the new TikTok Community Guidelines will also address other harmful issues in the platform.
Dangerous acts and challenges are also included. For the past months, some trends have been found to be harmful to the users and against the people around them.
If the challenge involves dangerous tools, driving behavior, and stunts, they will be prohibited by TikTok.
Trends that promote ingesting harmful substances will also be banned from the platform. You can click this link to see the other upcoming changes.
