Google now brings a special treat for all Chrome OS fans. It is the availability of the popular operating system on different PCs, Macs, and computers that are not Chromebooks. The Mountain View company calls this the "Chrome OS Flex," and it will be available on two versions, namely for Business and School use of the public.
Google Chrome OS Flex: Available for PCs and Macs
Google announced the first-ever "Chrome OS Flex," which is a version of the Chrome OS that is available for upgrades on different computers, including Windows-based and Macs. The release means that anyone can have the Chrome OS to use, especially now that Google has it available for free to download and use for different PCs.
The focus of the Chrome OS Flex is both for Business and School purposes, meaning that it may be intended for different purposes at the user's discretion. The availability of the Chrome OS Flex signifies Google opening up to the world, after making it limited for Chromebooks and Pixel devices and licensing it to limited companies only.
Google Chrome OS: No Need for Chromebook
Users can install this for free on their PCs and Macs, without the need for an extensive programming change. It is available for free on Google's website and would only require users to sign-up for the program that is now on its early access beta mode.
Expect different bugs or difficulties in the operating system as it is still on early access, but Google said it is under development for a better experience.
Google's Chrome OS
Google does not provide a license for computer companies to use their operating system on the different releases bringing desktops or laptops for consumers. The Chrome OS would only be available to external companies via a collaboration, which Google had with Samsung, Acer, ASUS, Dell, and more.
The Chrome OS already beat the macOS from Apple several months ago as the second most popular operating system in the world next to Windows. It only signifies the iconic design from Google and its worldwide fame that is already known to many, something which the macOS previously enjoyed and the one regarded as the popular one.
Chrome OS Flex's availability for business and school purposes only means that Google may soon sell it to computers from different manufacturing companies. The OS may also be made available like Windows, which is available on most computers in the market, making it a general operating system for use in many countries.
