Snapdragon 888 is presently the most updated chip for smartphones made by Qualcomm. Yet, it does not mean that it could not be replaced easily because anytime, the company might release a newer card.
Rumors are already all over the internet which points to the existence of its successor chip, Snapdragon 888 Pro. While the only difference between them is the moniker "Pro" which we usually hear in some of our devices, there is an ongoing development that is happening on its part.
It could bear some slight changes from the original version but who knows about what it can do. To know more about this chip, let's now dive into the details that were revealed by a leakster from China.
Is Snapdragon 888 Pro a Work on Progress?
We get used to the same tactic that every year, Qualcomm used to tease its consumers about its new Snapdragon chipset, then later a leak from nowhere would come out to spoil it.
It turns out that besides the word "Pro," the option could be "Plus," which suggests that the product gets an upgrade from its predecessor. The leak signals that Snapdragon 88 could adopt a soon-to-launched upgrade which could surprise us.
A popular Chinese leaker, Digital Chat Station has recently posted that the Snapdragon 888 Pro, Gizmochina reported. At the moment, the tipster has spoken that it will potentially launch in Q3 of 2021, which falls between July and September.
The missing link in the post was the absence of the official OEM partner for its launch. However, the leaker further explained that Qualcomm is now testing the said chip on some Chinese mobile phone makers. Later this year, we could expect a surge of upcoming local flagships for smartphones.

Snapdragon Overview in Some Smartphones
Techradar reported that the upcoming chipset could be similar to the Snapdragon 865 Plus which only serves a few devices globally. Some of the smartphones that made use of that chip are the Asus ROG Phone 3, Lenovo Legion gaming phone, Samsung Galaxy Note 20, and its foldable counterparts.
At any rate, we could look forward to Snapdragon 888's improved optimization which OEM could also achieve. Since several devices progressively come out this year, an upgrade is necessary to live up with the users' expectations, as well as their highly-sought output from the chipset.
It is also possible that the overheating problems that the Snapdragon 888 experiences could be covered by this improvement. The company could also consider upgrading its chipsets' clock speeds to avoid battery problems and unnecessary overheating.
The Catch Behind the Rumored Snapdragon 888 Pro
The suspected arrival of this chip is good news, but there's a twist to it. As 91mobiles reported, Snapdragon 888 Pro could be country-exclusive. It was speculated that it will only be available in China.
There are also rumors stating that its specs will not stray away from the current SoC. It will still use the 5nm process tech of Samsung together with the 1+3+4 core configuration.
Moreover, its 2.84 GHz is the current frequency present in its Cortex-X1 core. We could assume that it could be upgraded to 3 GHz this time around.
