Amazon would soon fulfill a furniture assembly service with its deliveries of orders via the platform and its soon-appearing premium service that makes the order complete and hassle-free. While most furniture options found in Amazon are already assembled, some pieces require a do-it-yourself (DIY) or hands-on approach.
Some prefer to do everything themselves, while there are also people who do not want to do it and opt for an already assembled order as it arrives at their homes. DIY furniture is inexpensive and mostly bought off the platform as it provides a temporary solution or placeholder, but sometimes, it can get time-consuming and demanding especially for tools.
Amazon Furniture Assembly: Drivers to Fulfill with Premium Service
According to a report from Bloomberg, a leaked internal presentation from the e-commerce company has shown the plans of Amazon to soon fulfill its furniture assembly with its drivers. This would come under a premium service that would be optional and speculated to be of another charge, separate from logistics and the seller's price.
What makes this iconic is that it is something new, and it would give people an option to just receive the furniture as is, or assembled for ready use or display. The option would be beneficial for people who are in a time constraint, or are ill-equipped with skills for a hands-on experience, as it sometimes proves it to be a challenge to complete it.
This goes with Amazon's "in-home delivery" option which gives the customer the flexibility to receive the package on the doorstep or have the delivery personnel bring it to specific places inside. While the assembly is one step away from the in-home delivery, the company still lacks it for its options, hence the soon-coming premium service.
Amazon to Rival Home Depot, Wayfair, and Other with Furniture Assembly
Other retail stores and e-commerce websites offer the service, with the likes of Home Depot and Wayfair which even offer free assembly for other products on special promotions or discounts from its seller. Nevertheless, Amazon already lacks an edge over competitors, which could make customers opt for another seller instead of them.
There are several parameters on this venture, and that includes customer satisfaction and professionalism of the Amazon driver that would also double as someone capable of assembling the equipment. Customers would have the option to return the product to Amazon or its seller if it is not satisfactory to their preference after assembly.
