"Among Us" has caught the attention of many people who are stuck in their homes in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. CNET reported on Dec. 22, 2020, that the game's popularity has increased through expanding its players' and streamers' engagement in the game.
Innersloth, the Redmond-based video-game developer, has announced that the new Airship Map will feature a lot of content, including new gameplay mechanics, a fresh set of tasks, and the free cosmetics that players are excited about.
'Among Us' Airship Map Now Launching After Several Delays
On Saturday, Mar. 27, IGN posted the official trailer of the game on YouTube.
"Among Us" appears to be a simple game of chasing and finding the traitor to others, but last year, the game already notched over 200 million downloads on several platforms like iOS and Android.
In the same year, the game was declared as the best multiplayer and the best mobile game during The Game Awards 2020. Previously, Canadian video game journalist, Geoff Keighley said that the Innersloth development team will release the new map earlier this 2021.
However, the game's launch had been prompted by several postponements which led the gamers to think about whether the game could still be introduced this year or not.
Innersloth did not reveal the exact time of its release, but the game is expected to arrive on Mar. 31, since the "Among Us" developers said that the game update was already finished and they were now working on something new.
Furthermore, the team said that the delays took them months before completing the update. However, they added that it was only normal for a team with few people working for the game's development.
"When you work in an official capacity and need to handle various business needs, there are more legal considerations that need to be put into it versus if it were just a side project or mod!" the developers added in a report by Inside Sport.
What to Expect in 'Among Us' Upcoming Airship Map?
The development team behind the development of "Among Us" consisted of only five members. The burden of being a cross-playable game has also contributed to the postponement of the game update.
In short, the developers took double the time to cover its development scope for all devices: from smartphones to the various gaming consoles. The team said that the most changes were brought for PC users.
For the features, you might want to check the game's new tasks, new starting rooms, a preliminary account system, and others.
For the new account system update, you can now give cosmetics to your friends regardless of the device that you use. Also, parental control was added so parents could have the option to guide the minors when it comes to creating display names and allowing chatting.
What made the "Among Us" Airship map update more interesting was the introduction of the upcoming cosmetics in the form of angry eyebrows, an ice cream-shaped hat, a heart, and even a unicorn horn.
