"Among Us," the social deduction game that rose to fame in 2020, gets a new mod bringing the titans from the Japanese manga series "Attack on Titans" (AoT) to the "Among Us" lobby.
Debuted in 2009, AoT follows a teenager named Eren Yeager, who vows to get revenge on man-eating titans that devoured his mother.
According to Essentially Sports, the mod does not incorporate AoT's universe, but it gives imposters titan-like features and abilities.
The 'Attack on Titans' Among Us
American YouTuber Socksfor1 perfectly captured three of the titan-imposters' abilities in a video he uploaded on Mar. 8.
First of all, these titan-imposters gain the ability to transform into the sky-scraping giants from AoT, which makes a thrilling chase to bring "Among Us" crewmates down. It is worth noting that in this form, imposters will not be able to vent.
The titan-imposters also get to have the ability 'Smash.'
Similar to Marvel's "Hulk Smash," this ability can kill all the crewmates caught within a certain radius. This ability can be best used when unsuspecting crewmates are grouped together.
Lastly, they get to have the ability to throw large boulders that can kill multiple crewmates at the same time. Like the "Smash" ability, this is most effective when crewmates are gathered in one place.
The biggest handicap the titan-imposters have is their decreased speed and stealth. Being the giant that they are, titan-imposters have much slower movement than regular imposters. With this flaw, imposters need to time their transformation perfectly to avoid revealing themselves to the crewmates early in the game.
Additionally, crewmates can easily spot titan-imposters from a distance, thanks to their oversized appearance. This flaw also makes them easy to identify.
Additionally, their lethal abilities have a 30-second cooldown.
'Among Us'' New Airship Launch
Innersloth, the indie developer that brought "Among Us" to our screens, revealed its fourth and largest map, The Airship.
In a blog post published on Mar. 18, Innersloth said the Airship map would feature new tasks, as well as the ability to pick which room you start in.
The new update will also feature a "preliminary" account system to help the developers with moderation.
"A proper moderation system is one that is extremely difficult and time-consuming," Innersloth wrote.
"It is not as easy as just having a "report" button and having an algorithm ban someone after a certain number of reports."
The developers explained that it is important for them to ensure safety, moderation, and reporting in-game.
They also admitted that the map might have some completely unacceptable bugs but assured players that they would apply the fix for the best user experience.
The Airship Map will be available for download on March 31, and since the developers took their time to finish the map, they suggested players may get a new hat for being patient with them.
