The latest Apple Silicon M1 MacBook can now completely use the Linux desktop system. However, the users need to know that there are certain downsides. Will you take the risk?
Corellium security experts discovered this after they ported a version of Linux to the advanced laptop's chip that will completely be released under an open-source license.
According to Apple Insider's latest report, the Linux system that was used is a fill Ubuntu desktop operating system. Chris Wade, the chief officer of Corellium, explained that the software was booted from a USB. He added that the Linux system is now fully functional on Apple's latest laptop.
What are the Linux system's downsides?
Toms Hardware previously reported that the innovation has certain negative effects on Apple Silicon M1 MacBook. If the users decided to try using the Linux system, the laptop's certain connection standards won't be supported.

Aside from this, the M1 MacBook won't also be able to take advantage of the M1's graphics support. Although the new technology is exciting to use, the new Linux version is still far away from being useful since it is on older, Intel-based laptops.
However, experts said that this is still normal since these kinds of issues are really expected on a new chip. Even Windows running on Apple M1 MacBooks is still facing similar problems.
Although this is the case, the discovery is still a major improvement for the Linux on M1 MacBooks.
How the researchers achieved it?
Chris Wade posted a tweet to explain the security researchers were able to make the Linux system work on Apple M1 MacBook.
"Linux is now completely usable on the Mac mini M1. Booting from USB a full Ubuntu desktop (rpi). Network works via a USB c dongle. Update includes support for USB, I2C, DART," said Wade via his official Twitter account.
"We will push changes to our GitHub and a tutorial later today. Thanks to the @CorelliumHQ team," he added.
Corellium's chief officer said further explained that network compatibility is possible through a USB-C dongle. He added that the current update to the platform will support DART, I2C, and USB.
