Tesla software update leaks are discovered by Chinese EV users coming from release notes of version 2020.48.5 that aims to brush up the system's navigation systems and text messaging interface features for better integration. The latest release notes are only available in China but are soon released to the US users and other regions that Tesla services.
One of the most famous electric vehicle manufacturers and clean energy company, Tesla, is now looking at a new software update release leaked by Chinese users as it appeared earlier for them. The latest update still sees no news in the western region where Tesla is mostly based, but it would soon be part of this update.
The leak showed that Tesla has more plans for its electric vehicles apart from the famous software update to bring a wider release of the Full Self-Driving's (FSD) public beta version. This software update would be random and would not apply to all of Tesla's EVs owned by public users.
According to Electrek, Tesla calls this update to be 2020.48.5 and has no official release date for the company's electric vehicle users, remaining as a leaked version. Additionally, this version is not yet the "Big Holiday Update" expected from Tesla to bring significant electric cars' notable features.
The new update targeted the electric vehicles' built-in navigation system, particularly in highways, major roads that have a tricky road system, and city intersections. The display is programmed to appear on the massive touchscreen information system found in Tesla's vehicles.
Tesla 2020.48.5 Release Notes: All Changes in non-Major Update
Despite Electrek not calling this release as a major holiday update, 2020.48.5 would still bring significant changes and upgrades to Tesla's existing features. According to Tesla Scope, 97 Tesla electric vehicles are currently using this version and would soon be available for more cars.
Model 3 and Model Y
Model 3 and Model Y would receive similar upgrades where the upgraded navigation system would show up on its humongous touchscreen information system. This upgrade would make more informative instructions, particularly on the turn-by-turn directions.
Model S and Model X
Model S and Model X would receive a more upgraded version that integrates the said navigation system update to its instrument cluster right above the steering wheel. The same upgrade features would come but only differs on its display.
Tesla Scope noted that all of the Palo Alto giant company's EVs got (and would soon get for the US and other regions) a text messaging feature that allows the steering wheel's right scroll button to dismiss pop-up notifications. Additionally, braking harshly from high speeds would trigger a blinking brake light instead of the regular solid display of red.
Tesla's Sentry Mode would also save the latest "panic mode" footage on its onboard memory where users can download via plugging a USB flash drive.
