Pokemon Sword and Shield New Event Will Unlock Version-Exclusive Pokemon for a Limited Time Only!

Pokemon Sword and Shield fans are in for a nice treat as a new event has been unveiled today, unlocking Pokemon Sword exclusives to Pokemon Shield, and vice versa--but there's a catch; it's only available for a limited time only.

A New Event?

The event was first revealed by Serebii, where they said it would run today until March 26.

Additionally, the event, known as the Pokedex Completion Event, is specified as a Max Raid Battle event, so players should be heading to The Wild Area to join and get a chance to complete their Pokedex.

According to SlashGear, those who own the Pokemon Sword version can catch Shield exclusives, including Corsola, Mandibuzz, Oranguru, and Ponyta. In contrast, Pokemon Shield players can catch Sword exclusives, including Braviary, Farfetch'd, Passimian, and Darumaka.

Besides these exclusive Pokemon, a few other Pokemon will spawn more in the Wild Area, including Snorlax, the Machop line, and the Gastly line.

A full list of the available Pokemon during this event is available at Serebii's site.

The Tradition of Trading Monsters

Nevertheless, it seems like not all version exclusives will be made available during this event, as well as possible appearances of legendary Pokemon, as per Eurogamer.

But, that's understandable, given that version exclusive Pokemon are created to encourage players to trade with those who have the opposite version or perhaps get both versions of the game.

Apparently, it's also the first time this has happened.

Moreover, Nintendo and The Pokemon Company haven't announced nor confirmed the event yet, but you'll want to head over to The Wild Area and check whether you can catch any of these exclusives.

More Events Currently Happening at The Wild Area

Meanwhile, the current Wild Area event where you can catch a Gigantamax version of Snorlax, Gengar, and Machamp is still available until Mar. 26.

All three monsters will spawn more frequently whenever you join Max Raids.

This is your second chance to catch a Gigantamax Snorlax, which has already appeared in the game before.

Plus, there is also still time left to acquire in-game freebies, including free 20 Battle Points and a free Bottle Cap through the Mystery Gift. Pokemon Sword and Shield players will have this chance until the end of the month.

There are also a few other Max Raid events currently happening, as per GameSpot.

For example, you can team up with three other trainers either through the internet or locally, and your group will face a Dynamax Pokemon together that they might have their Hidden Ability, which is by far the only way to get these kinds of monsters in the game.

Pokemon Sword and Shield Latest Patch

In related news, Pokemon Sword and Shield have recently released the game's latest update.

The patch included several fixes, including the bug that made the games crash whenever you received a "hacked" Pokemon through Surprise Trade, which allows players to trade with other players around the world.

The issue first became apparent last February, based on Newsweek's report.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are available on Nintendo Switch and will have a new DLC available in June.
