Online Reservation Wars Begin as Supermarkets are Wiped Clean Amid Coronavirus Panic Buying

Major supermarkets have experienced the havoc of people panic buying and even reportedly fighting over tissue due to the nationwide scare of the coronavirus or Covid-19.

The panic has spread far and wide as most of the resources are now being misallocated by people who are buying unnecessary quantities of certain products like toilet paper during the massive scare of the coronavirus. Most supermarkets have even reported to be emptied due to the panic buying of most people leaving shelves bare and chaos rampant.

Shoppers have been fighting over the smallest of things

It all started with the unnecessary use of face masks. As the coronavirus or Covid-19 grew to national popularity as it started to infect most countries around, most citizens decided that it was a good idea to use face masks despite not needing them in hopes of decreasing the risk of infection from this virus.

This decision has left medical professionals in scarcity of face masks which are absolutely necessary in their field of work since the coronavirus is not the only sickness being faced by the world today. After people started hoarding face masks, people started hoarding hygienic and sanitary products by buying way too much than needed in hopes of surviving an apocalyptic setting.

This apocalyptic mindset has probably been influenced by mainstream media

Since the dawn the zombie apocalypse genre and other apocalyptic genres, the trend of having safety bunkers and stored away supplies has increased as people are starting to prepare for an end-of-the-world scenario. The panic was only magnified with the coronavirus or Covid-19 expanding from Asia into other parts of the world. Although there has been drastic measures being carried on to prevent the spread of this virus, the infiltration of this virus has still succeeded.

Northern Italy is in great trouble

While Northern Italy is quarantined, the amount of fresh fruit and vegetables could have a shortage as they are part of the key routes which are affected. Italy has been the most recent country to experience the massive blow of the coronavirus as death rates increase despite this virus being fairly new to their country. Aside from the fear of the actual coronavirus or Covid-19 infection, there are other aspects affected as well.

The economic aspect was also deeply affected by the coronavirus or Covid-19 as most factories from China have been shut down causing retailers and other corporations to look for other alternative manufacturers for their products. The whole tech industry is deeply affected as most of the technology around the world is manufactured in China.

Online reservations for supermarkets

Supermarkets like Tesco, Asda, Waitrose, and even Sinsbury have been trying to ration the amount of certain products being allocated for each customer so that the majority of customers can still purchase these products. The online wars begin as well as most people are still trying to purchase as much as they can through online means.

This is more advantageous for families with multiple members as they can each put an individual order of their own. The coronavirus or Covid-19 has truly affected the economy and now it is affecting the online market as well.
