Jason Blundell, one of the Treyarch's long time devs, has finally called it quits. Rumors implying his departure started in 2019. Is this the end or another fake-out here on the internet? The future of Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies mode is at stake!
What Happened Before?
In case you have forgotten, as recent as last year. News articles were posted about his alleged departure from Treyarch and Activision with all his skills and talent but were later smashed by saying that he was indeed still with the company. Nobody knows where the leak came from, but it was a pretty poor source if that would be the case.
What Made Them Think it Was True?
Blundell has been notably absent in many of the promotions for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Zombies DLC Season which fans were concerned. Back then, his last appearance as part of Treyarch Stream was still in March, which was a long time for one of the main devs to not be under the limelight. It was always Craig Houston, who was the Lead Writer of Zombies that have been running solo for the streams about that game. Lastly, in QA interviews with Zombies on the Activision side of things in their Blog, the company has only listed "Craig Houston and the Zombies Team," which did not mention Jason Blundell anywhere in the post.

Is There Any Proof Now?
The difference with the news about Blundell's departure now is a bit more concrete with the news coming straight out from Treyarch Studio's official Twitter account. The said post confirmed Blundell will leave the studio. Here is that post:
Who is Jason Blundell?
Jason Blundell has been with Treyarch Studios for years as one of the leads when it comes to the widely popular Zombies mode. Blundell was tasked with being the Campaign and Zombies Director and was on point with both modes for the Black Ops 3 title way back in 2015.
The success of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 was indeed one of the best selling games on consoles, but not everything was good. The campaign was heavily bombarded with criticism in comparison with the story narrative of the previous Call of Duty: Black Ops games have had.
Since then, Blundell was promoted still to be the Co-Studio Head along Mark Gordon and Dan Bunting, which led to a massive resurgence in the focus of Zombies mode in the next title Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
If there is any legitimacy to Blundell leaving at all for good this time, it has been a good run indeed for the developer. The Call of Duty's Zombies mode will not be the same without him not being in one of the helms together with his co-devs who tirelessly worked that Zombies mode will be a game apart from the traditional narrative story.
