Apple users will soon be able to use Siri to listen to music on Spotify. Apple and Spotify have been in talks to make the feature possible, and soon it might be possible on iOS 13.
Spotify With Siri
The wait might soon be over for the many iPhone and iPad users who have been waiting for Siri to be able to play music from Spotify. Apple and Spotify have been coordinating to enable the feature, and now Spotify is beta testing Siri voice control with iOS 13. With the new feature enabled, iPhone and iPad users can request Siri to play songs or playlists on Spotify just with their voice.
However, it is worth noting that the users have to specify Spotify in the Siri command so that it does not automatically go to Apple Music. Further, it has been observed that the feature does not work when it comes to podcasts on Spotify. When asked to play a podcast, Siri searches for music instead.
As for other Apple devices, the feature seems to work for the AirPods but not with the Apple Watch, and it is still unclear whether it works with the HomePod.
Beta Testing
So far, the feature is available to the beta testers, and it is not yet known when it will be available for all Spotify users. However, while the feature may start rolling out on the main app in the coming weeks, Spotify remains mum about the feature.
“At Spotify, we routinely conduct several tests in an effort to improve our user experience. Some of those tests end up paving the path for our broader user experience and others serve only as an important learning. We aren’t going to comment on specific tests at this time,” Spotify told The Verge.
