A new flip phone is coming to users in the United States very soon. It will be no ordinary feature flip phone because it can support Google apps and even Google Assistant.
Google Assistant On A Flip Phone
TCL, the company that owns Alcatel, just announced that it will launch a new flip phone in the United Sates very soon. Called the Alcatel GO FLIP 3 or Alcatel SMARTFLIP depending on the carrier, the phone features KaiOS 2.5 so it can easily fulfill all of a user’s basic needs on a phone such as text messaging and making calls.
What makes Alcatel’s flip phone stand out, however, is that it will be the first feature flip phone in North America to also offer select Google services including Google Maps, YouTube, and even Google Assistant. A user needs only to touch a button to access the Google Assistant, and it can help the user with tasks such as making phone calls, opening apps, and replying to messages just by using their voice.
Alcatel GO FLIP 3/SMARTFLIP
Alcatel’s new flip phone has 4G LTE connectivity, a quad-core processor, long-lasting battery, and an expandable memory. It will be called Alcatel GO FLIP 3 on T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile, and Alcatel SMARTFLIP on Cricket Wireless and AT&T, but they are exactly the same phone. The units will be available on AT&T and Cricket Wireless stores by Sept. 27, later this month at Metro by T-Mobile, and in October at T-Mobile. While there is so far no word on the price, the GO FLIP 3/SMARTFLIP will not likely be on the expensive side.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with multiple partners in the US to deliver a feature phone experience like no other,” said Senior Vice President and General Manager for TCL Communication, North America, Eric Anderson. “By adding key features like Google Assistant, the GO FLIP 3 and SMARTFLIP remind us that flip phones are not a relic of the past, but continue to serve as a viable and essential mobile device that keeps millions of people connected with their friends and family.”
