In the Resident Evil 2 remake, solving puzzles reward players with items, weapon upgrades, and the like. One of those is unlocking Leon's desk, which is among the earliest brainteasers players can get to.
How To Open Leon's Desk
Leon's desk is found in the West Office on the first floor of the police station. There are two combination locks to open here, as well as a File that gives you the clue on how to unlock them.
To get the correct combinations, you're going to have to look for the nameplates of the other officers, whose initials are the solution — the first letter of their first names, to be exact. These are placed on the desks in the room and divided into two sides. Each side corresponds to the positions of the left and right locks.
Straight To The Combinations
If you want to skip all that, the code for the left lock is NED. It stands for Neil Carlsen (N), Elliot Edward (E), and David Ford (D), respectively. As for the right lock, the code is MRG. It's the initials of Marvin Branagh (M), Rita Phillips (R), and George Scott (G), whose nameplate is on the floor.
Rewards
Completing this riddle will yield the High-Capacity Magazine for the Matilda if you're playing as Leon. It'll increase your ammo count from 12 to 24. On the other hand, it will give you the Speed Loader for the SLS 60 if you're playing as Claire. It'll make reloading your revolver a lot faster.
On paper, the puzzle seems pretty simple. The confusing aspect here is that the officers usually call one another by their last names, so it isn't exactly clear it's the first names you should be taking note of.
