Despite their few hiccups, the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are hailed as some of the best Android smartphones available right now, featuring the best incarnation of Android and arguably the industry's best camera thus far.
However, Google is apparently packing more things up its sleeve this year than just two handsets. Both the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are premium flagships, and thus come with flagship-level price tags. To offset this, Google is apparently planning to release versions that would cover the middle ground — a couple of mid-range Pixel phones that don't cost as much as its mainline devices but still perform excellently.
Pixel 3 Lite XL Leaks?
There's been much talk about a mid-range Pixel over the past few weeks, but new rumors now provide more proof that an equivalent to the larger Pixel 3 XL is arriving as well. OnLeaks and 91mobiles claim to have details of the "Pixel 3 Lite XL" plus some leaked renders to match. The name is apparently a placeholder, it's worth noting.
Pixel 3 XL Lite Specs
The Pixel 3 Lite XL would feature a 6-inch screen with a resolution of 2,220 x 1,080 but still resemble the smaller mid-range Pixel 3, down to the plastic body. Other specifications of this model aren't clear at the time of writing, but the renders show that it wouldn't include a notch unlike the Pixel 3 XL, which arguably has the biggest notch on any phone. That setup would obviously come with tradeoffs, such as having only one camera up front, but that would mean not having a humongous notch, too.
Apart from everything mentioned above, most details are either unknown or purely speculated. For instance, rumors say the specs will resemble the mid-range Pixel 3, which would mean a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 chip, 4 GB of RAM, a 12-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel selfie shooter, and 32 GB of base storage.
The Return Headphone Jack
When Google released the first Pixel, it made fun of Apple for dropping the headphone jack from the iPhone 7. But when it did the same thing when the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL came out, a great number of denizens grilled the search company and expressed their anger for its hypocritical removal of the feature. The outrage might soon come to a halt. The Pixel 3 Lite XL would apparently come with a headphone jack, much to the delight of wired holdouts everywhere.
