The free PlayStation Plus games for September 2018 are headlined by Destiny 2 and God of War III Remastered, two PlayStation 4 games from series that are headed in opposite directions.
PlayStation Plus subscribers still have time to download the free games for August 2018, which include the open-world Mafia III and the survival horror shooter Dead by Daylight. The offerings for September 2018, however, are arguably the best so far for the year.
Free PlayStation Plus Games For September 2018
The free PlayStation Plus games for September 2018 were revealed through a post on the official PlayStation Blog, headlined by Destiny 2 and God of War III Remastered for the PlayStation 4. While the two games may be considered as blockbuster titles, the Destiny and God of War franchises currently have different paths ahead of them.
Destiny 2 is actually already available to download, so that PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to join the 24-hour free trial of the Forsaken expansion's new Gambit mode starting Sept. 1 at 10 a.m. PDT. The game has been bombarded with criticism ever since it was released, and releasing Destiny 2 as a free PlayStation Plus download may be an effort to increase the dwindling player base.
God of War III Remastered, meanwhile, is the predecessor of this year's God of War, which claimed the title as the fastest selling PlayStation 4 exclusive ever. It will be available to download starting Sept. 4.
The other free PlayStation Plus games for the month are Another World - 20th Anniversary Edition for the PlayStation 3, cross-buy with the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita; QUBE Director's Cut for the PlayStation 3, cross-buy with the PlayStation 4; Sparkle 2 for the PlayStation Vita, cross-buy with the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3; and Foul Play for the PlayStation Vita, cross-buy with the PlayStation 4.
Sony is also offering Here They Lie for the PlayStation VR and Knowledge is Power for the PlayStation 4, but these free games are not a part of the usual monthly offerings. Here They Lie will be available until Oct. 2 while Knowledge is Power will be available until Nov. 6.
PlayStation 4 Games In September
For PlayStation 4 gamers, Destiny 2 and God of War III Remastered should take up their time while waiting for to highly anticipated titles that will be released this month.
Spider-Man, which will have an average length of 20 hours, will launch on Sept. 7, while Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and the many enemies that Lara Croft will face, will be released on Sept. 14.
