The Spider-Man for PlayStation 4 release date is drawing near, and more details about the highly anticipated game, such as its expected length, are being revealed.
There were rumors that Spider-Man for PS4 was going to be a short game. Those rumors have now been shot down, further increasing excitement for the webslinger's latest adventure.
Spider-Man PS4: How Long Is The Game?
Insomniac Games Community Director James Stevenson took to Twitter to answer questions about Spider-Man for the PlayStation, revealing several new details about the upcoming action-adventure title.
Perhaps the most important question that Stevenson answered was regarding the game's length, as there were rumors that it would be very short at just about 12 hours. That would be a problem for fans who have been waiting for Spider-Man since it was unveiled in E3 2016.
Fortunately, Stevenson delivered good news.
A running time of 20 hours is a good number. In comparison, the Batman: Arkham series offered about 13 hours of play time on average, while the also upcoming Shadow of the Tomb Raider will only run 13 hours to 15 hours on average.
Some players, however, will spend more time on Spider-Man to complete side quests and try out the various other things that can be done in the game. The PlayStation 4 exclusive will not rival open-world RPGs in terms of play time, but over 20 hours is still pretty long.
More 'Spider-Man' For PS4 Details
Stevenson revealed more details about Spider-Man for the PlayStation 4, including that the pre-load size for the game will start at 45 GB. The game will have Day 1 patch, the details of which will be revealed at a later time, but Stevenson said that it will include accessibility options.
Previous Spider-Man trailers revealed that gameplay will focus on the wallcrawler's agility, speed, and unique web attacks. Spider-Man's spider-sense will also play a huge part in the game, as well as the chance to use the environment to take down enemies. Interestingly, Miles Morales will also be in the game.
The Spider-Man release date is on Sept. 7, which is less than two weeks away. In addition to the standard edition for $59.99, the game also offers a Digital Deluxe Edition for $79.99, which includes access to post-launch DLC. There is also a Collector's Edition for $149.99, which includes a steelbook case, an artbook, and a mysterious statue. Spider-Man is perched on top of something in the sculpture, the identity of which has not yet been revealed.
