Gaming aficionados are in for a treat after Asus unveiled the Zephyrus S on Thursday as part of their Republic of Gamers laptop series.
The Zephyrus S, which is built in with an 8th generation Core i7 chip, has a 14.95 to 15.75 framework, making it the thinnest gaming laptop to date. Asus is set to release two Zephyrus S versions, with a $2,199 laptop made in GTX 1070 Max-Q hitting Amazon on Aug. 31 and a GTX 1060-built laptop coming in the middle of October.
Extensive Features Available On Zephyrus S
With competitors such as MSI and Razer constantly releasing thinner laptops with even slimmer bezels, Asus has managed to compress the 15.6-inch 1,920 x 1,080 display of the Zephyrus S into 14.2 chassis to make the whole footprint smaller. The Zephyrus S also comes with an enhanced airflow compared to traditional designs thanks to its ability to stretch out across the entire back of the body.
"Keeping heatsinks free of dust and debris is key to preserving cooling performance as the hours add up, so our self-cleaning fans eject particles from the system through anti-dust tunnels. This special feature prevents accumulation on the fins to ensure consistent cooling and improve long-term stability," Asus said.
The Zephyrus S will also be incorporating a new central command application known as the Armoury Crate, which improves performance, fan settings, and lighting. Prior to the inclusion of the aforementioned command application, Asus users had to lean on a different application to gain control of the hardware settings on Zephyrus brands.
The Armoury Crate, which will replace the Asus ROG Gaming Center, can also ensure users an immediate access to the system's settings and the Aura Sync. The Aura Sync has the capability of coordinating colors and effects with compatible components such as the Gladius II Origin mouse and the ROG Delta headset.
Asus Releases Another Gaming Laptop
On the other hand, Asus also revealed the 17.3-inch Strix SCAR II GL704 gaming laptop, which is an improvement to their 15-inch Strix Scar II product. Besides its upgrade in the display department, the 17-inch gaming laptop relatively maintains the same 3ms response time, 100 percent sRGB coverage, and a 144Hz refresh rate.
The 17-inch Strix Scar II, which utilizes a lower version of the GTX 1060 graphics chip, will also be loaded with a 16 GB of RAM, 256 GB of SSD, 1 TB hard drive, and an advanced Core i7-8750H processor. It will be made available for $1,699 in the final half of September.
