Asus has officially introduced its new ZenBook Pro 15 UX580GE at Computex 2018, and the laptop comes with a Screenpad, i.e., a secondary display instead of a simple trackpad.
The new ZenBook Pro 15 UX580GE comes at the top of the company's premium laptop line, boasting high-end specifications, a sleek design, and the innovative ScreenPad.
Asus ZenBook Pro 15 With ScreenPad
First of all, it's worth pointing out that Asus' latest laptop unveiled at Computex is different from the regular ZenBook Pro 15 (UX550G) unveiled back in early May.
This model has a 5.5-inch 1080p touchscreen instead of the regular touchpad, allowing for more convenience and functionality. Not only does the ScreenPad perform all functions of a regular trackpad, but it can also be customized with specific shortcuts.
Since ScreenPad is basically a secondary, smartphone-sized display, users can also watch movies on it, or have something else displayed while the main screen is busy with other visuals.
"There's never been a laptop like the all-powerful, all-conquering ZenBook Pro 15," says Asus. "It's faster and more sophisticated than ever before, and the jaw-dropping new ScreenPadTM adds magic to your creativity. With ZenBook Pro 15, you don't have to wait for the future: you can touch it, right here and right now."
The company adds that the ZenBook Pro 15 with ScreenPad will also feature a configurable toolbar out of the box, and it will work with YouTube, Spotify, Microsoft Office, and more.
Asus ZenBook Pro 15 UX580 Specs
Aside from the intriguing ScreenPad, the new ZenBook Pro 15 has plenty of other treats to offer. The regular 15.6-inch display has a 4K resolution of 3,840 x 2,160, a 178-degree viewing angle, and support for the full Adobe RGB color space.
The laptop comes with powerful specs with up to an eight-generation Intel Core i9 8950HK processor, Nvidia 1050 TI graphics, up to 16 GB of RAM, 512 GB/ 1 TB SSD, or 256 GB/ 512 GB SATA SSD.
Connectivity options include two USB Type-A ports, two USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 2 Type-C (with Thunderbolt 3), a microSD card reader, an HDMI 1.4 port, and a combo audio jack.
The laptop further sports a backlit keyboard, a fingerprint scanner with Windows Hello support, a 10-hour battery life, and a SonicMaster stereo audio system with surround-sound.
Asus ZenBook Pro 15 With ScreenPad: Pricing And Availability
The latest Asus laptop hits the premium segment, delivering impressive power and design features, but it will not come cheap. The laptop will start at $2,300 for the base configuration, while the top-of-the-line configuration could add another $1,000 or more to the base price. The new ZenBook Pro 15 with ScreenPad is expected to start shipping sometime in mid-July, and it should be available globally.
