Sledgehammer Games has released a new team-based, multiplayer game mode for the highly successful Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare that focuses on snipers.
Entitled "One Shot," the game mode is available across all platforms of the game. As a celebration of the game mode's launch, a special multiplayer event is being held for double experience points.
The "One Shot mode" places the focus on snipers, with all players that sign up for a game equipped with the MORS bolt-action, single-shot sniper rifle and not much else. All players have no secondary weapon, and once the game loads, their health level is decreased.
Players do not enter the game mode entirely similar with one another though, as players are given the option to choose between five classes. The five classes come with varying Exo abilities, score streaks and perks. Examples of differences between the classes are that the Hard Scope class comes with Peripherals and the Evo Cloak ability, the Zoomed class comes with the Variable Zoom Scope and the Evo Hover ability, the 4X class comes with the ACOG Scope and the Evo Cloak ability, the Ace class comes with the stock MORS rifle and the Evo Hover ability, and the Irons class comes with Ironsights and the Exo Hover ability.
The game mode requires a steady hand and a developed skill with the MORS sniper rifle for players to stand a chance against enemy snipers. One Shot will also prove to be a helpful game mode for players that are looking to grind for attachments to the sniper rifle.
Players that attempt to make a run on One Shot mode will be able to earn double experience points until Dec. 29, Monday, at 9 a.m. PST.
The announcement of "One Shot mode" is the second significant announcement related to the multiplayer mode of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare over the past couple of weeks. Earlier in December, Sledgehammer Games launched daily challenges that give players tasks to complete to win supply drops. The supply drops contain random loot, along with a new KVA Recon gear set.
Sledgehammer Games has also previous announced that it will start the release of paid downloadable content for the game in 2015. The game studio currently has plans to release four DLC packs, with the first one, entitled Havoc, scheduled to be released in January. The DLC packs will provide players with new maps for multiplayer mode, along with chapters in a co-op campaign that features zombies.
