The highly anticipated Marvel film, Avengers: Infinity War, left fans of the film in shock, but various actors from the film have stated that fans are in for more surprises in the next film.
Another actor may have revealed a juicy spoiler by hinting that his character, who was presumed dead in Infinity Wars, may return in the Avengers 4.
The Collector Will Return
Actor Benicio Del Toro appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday, June 18, to speak about his character, The Collector, and if he would be in the fourth Avengers film. Fans may recall that in Infinity Wars, The Collector was briefly seen being tortured by Thanos, the film's main villain, and questioned about the whereabouts of the Reality Stone.
A few members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, including Gamora, Thanos' adopted daughter, and Star-Lord/Peter Quill, arrived at The Collector's home planet, Knowhere, to stop Thanos and Gamora even stabbed her adoptive father.
However, it was revealed the entire sequence was a trap and Thanos had already possessed the Reality Stone. Thanos used to the stone to lure his adoptive daughter.
The Collector's fate, however, was not revealed but it was assumed that he was dead, as his planet was seen to be destroyed by Thanos.
When Colbert asked if Del Toro's character would be back in the untitled fourth Avengers film, the late-night host asked Del Toro to blink to confirm this, which Del Toro did. This also coincides with Del Toro's remark during an interview with Cinemablend when he replied on the status of his character.
"I think he's alive, Yeah... I think that you know, I think he's alive. You're talking to him!" Del Toro responded.
The Avengers' Fate
While The Collector's fate was not confirmed, there were various other characters who lost their lives during the battle against Thanos in Infinity Wars, and half of the Avengers were turned to dust after Thanos activated his Infinity Gauntlet.
Though the directors of the film have not said much about the next Avengers film, they have hinted that certain characters' deaths were meant to be "permanent". Fans have come up with their theories about what will take place in the next film, including time traveling and the original five members of the Avengers using the Infinity Stones for themselves.
The fourth Avengers film will be in theaters May 3, 2019. The next Marvel film to hit theaters in 2018 will be Ant-Man and the Wasp.
