Samuel L. Jackson Teases Why Captain Marvel Will Be 'Important' In 'Avengers 4'

It has been confirmed that actress Brie Larson will portray Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel and that her character will be featured in the next Avengers film.

The fourth Avengers film will take place following the gruesome ending in Infinity War and actor Samuel L. Jackson, who portrays Nick Fury, teases how important Larson's character will be in the upcoming film.

Captain Marvel To The Rescue

During the ending credits of Infinity War, Jackson's character and Maria Hill (Colbie Smulders) were also turned to dust after Thanos activated the Infinity Gauntlet. However, before Fury disappeared, he was able to send a signal on his transmitter that showed a starburst insignia with a blue and red background, which fans assumed to be the symbol for Captain Marvel.

Jackson, who will also be in the stand-alone Captain Marvel film that will be set in the 1990s, hinted to why he thinks Captain Marvel will be "important" in the untitled fourth Avengers film. While speaking to Vulture magazine, Jackson revealed that he didn't know that his character would be featured in Infinity War, but he does have an idea of how everything will be solved in the next film.

"Who's really dead and who's really in the flaky wind of Marvel dust, I don't know, but I do know there's a solution that they didn't even have to tell me, just because I know who Captain Marvel is and what all that means," Jackson stated.

Who Is Captain Marvel?

The Captain Marvel film is set to premiere in theaters on March 8, 2019, which is two months before the fourth Avengers film hits theaters. The film will follow the origins of Danvers, who gains superpowers after her DNA was infused with that of an alien, as well as her relationship with Fury.

Jackson continued that he think Captain Marvel will be the one to save the day in the next Avengers film because Marvel is the "most powerful character in the Marvel Universe." Larson and Jackson also starred in the film Kong: Skull Island together.

Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Gemma Chan, Mckenna Grace, Clark Gregg, and Jude Law will also be starring in the Captain Marvel film. The next Marvel film to be in theaters will be Ant-Man and The Wasp, a sequel to the Ant-Man film.
