Several lucky fans at CineEurope received the surprise of a lifetime. The Walt Disney Company teased a few Marvel Studios films.
'Avengers 4' Update
Since Avengers: Infinity War bowed into theatres on April 27, many fans have wondered what happened to their favorite characters at the end of the film. Half of the heroes such as Spider-Man, Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange, and most of the Guardians of the Galaxy line-up were wiped away from existence after Thanos retrieved all six Infinity Stones. The only characters that remained included many of the founding Avengers and Rocket Raccoon.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige spoke about the Avengers' franchise's next chapter. Feige briefly apologized for not having enough characters to publicize, as he referred to the shocking conclusion. However, he has forewarned that the remaining heroes would have to team up to save the universe from the Mad Titan. Marvel Studios did not provide any footage for the upcoming Avengers 4, which is scheduled to drop into U.S. theatres on May 3, 2019.
'Ant-Man And The Wasp' Plus 'Captain Marvel'
The two other movies that received screen time at CineEurope were the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel. The audience watched three scenes from the Paul Rudd-Evangeline Lilly vehicle. Some of the scenes focused on the titular characters tackling the latest villain, the Ghost. Ant-Man and the Wasp is scheduled to drop into theatres on July 6.
Feige also introduced CineEurope attendees to Captain Marvel's world. The film follows Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) as she goes on a journey to become one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's newest heroes.
Jude Law and Annette Benning will join the cast as new characters, while Samuel L. Jackson, Clark Gregg, and Lee Pace will reprise their respective roles as Nick Fury, S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson, and Ronan the Accuser. Feige reported that Larson's Captain Marvel would play a significant role during the MCU's Phase Four.
Other Marvel Movies
Sony Pictures Entertainment dropped the official trailer to the upcoming animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The film is expected to introduce Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore) to the audience as he arrives in Peter Parker (voiced by Jake Johnson)'s world.
A reluctant Parker takes Morales under his wing and the duo encounters a variety of Spider-Man's allies and enemies such as the Prowler and the Kingpin. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is due out on Christmas.
Deadpool 2 dropped into theatres on May 18. The R-rated sequel featured Ryan Reynolds' return as the Merc with the Mouth as he welcomed Cable (Josh Brolin) and Domino (Zazie Beetz) into the X-Men film universe. Several media outlets such as The Hollywood Reporter, ScreenGeek, and The Verge praised the film.
