After the devastating ending to one of 2018's most highly anticipated film, many can't help but wonder what will happen next?
The screenwriters for the film, Avengers: Infinity Wars, reveal that the shocking cliffhanger from the Marvel film was almost the beginning of next part of the superhero sequel.
Avengers 4
At the end of exciting superhero film, the main villain Thanos (Josh Brolin) obtained the six infinity stones and with a snap of his finger erased half of the planet's population. Of those who were turned to dust, certain Avengers members also ceased to exist. This included Spiderman, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Bucky Barnes, Star-Lord, and Dr. Strange.
Screenwriters, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, shared to the New York Times, that this grim ending was intended to be the opening for the 4th Avengers film. Markus stated that they realized this would be more appropriate as the ending for the Infinity War film.
Markus continued that if Thanos' snap had appeared at the beginning of Avengers 4 it would have been a "continuation" of what was seen beforehand.
Directors of the film, Joe and Anthony Russo, said that this is not what they envisioned for the 3rd and 4th Avengers films and that each film will be "distinctly" different from the other.
"I think the two-parter concept came back when Marvel decided they were going to culminate the MCU, it was going to be a two-movie deal. But as we developed the movie, in execution, it ended up being more of two singular expressions," Joe Russo stated during a press conference.
What's Going To Happen In The Next Film?
