NBC Moves 'Constantine' to Earlier Friday Evening Time Slot

Things are not looking well for the NBC TV series, Constantine. The network has chosen to remove the series from its 10 p.m. timeslot down to 8 p.m.

It is a clear sign that things are not working out well for the series, though hope is still in the mist.

The new timeslot was announced on Twitter, which leaves us without a doubt that Constantine is not performing well. However, we should bear in mind that shows like Supernatural started off on a small note, and a similar change like this once saved it from cancellation.

Recently it was announced that the show failed to gain a nine order from NBC, which means that instead of the intended 22 episodes, viewers will have to contend with 13.

We wished DC would have created a short season and focused the budget on special effects and creating a strong storyline. The early aspects of the show were filled with unnecessary episodes while the main story arc was placed on the back pedal. It took too long for the interesting things to come into play, and this caused many viewers to lose interest.

So far, the last couple of episodes were done very well, and we can only hope it continues down this path because ratings and season 2 depends on it.

At the moment, we heard rumors claiming that NBC has placed Constantine on the season 2 shortlist. Don't get excited just yet, because being on the shortlist doesn't mean a season 2 is guaranteed.

Now, we have one problem with the decision to drop Constantine to the 8 p.m. timeslot. This particular timing is designed for shows that are more on the lighthearted side of things, and this make us wonder if the show will be toned down.

We can only hope this is not the case. If the show picks up during the 8 p.m. timing, then NBC could send it back to 10 p.m. should season 2 get the go-ahead. By then, Constantine would have amassed for itself a loyal fanbase and it wouldn't matter much about the time it airs.

Constantine is expected to return on Jan. 6, 2015.
