Ford revisits another fan-favorite classic model for its 2019 catalog with the new GT California Special. The Mustang variant is back with modern upgrades.
The manufacturer apparently went the extra mile to make the model stand out from the standard 2019 pony car. It flaunts a grille that has been blacked out, fading stripes, a new trunk badge and five-spoke wheels. Moreover, the company points out that it features a more aggressive look thanks to its Performance Pack splitter up front.
Demand For More Classic Variants
It looks like the manufacturer receives a lot of feedback regarding the possibility of older models getting a modern facelift. Based on some of their previous releases, the firm does seem to give in to the demand made by its consumers.
"People have been talking a lot about the 2019 Mustang Bullitt," said Jiyan Cadiz," a spokesman for the company. This adds just a little more excitement for Mustang fans," he added.
History And Modern Comforts
The Ford Mustang California Special first came out in 1968 as a dealer-exclusive model, which was reportedly inspired by the 1967 Shelby GT notchback coupe prototype. It was surprisingly so popular that the manufacturer eventually mass-produced a factory version of the vehicle.
Equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 engine that packs an estimated 460 horsepower and a torque rating of 420 pound-feet, the 2019 Ford Mustang California Special is capable of reaching speeds of up to 155 mph effortlessly. Paired with active exhaust flaps, the powerhouse features a quiet start mode to keep it discreet in certain areas. Rev-matching technology is likewise on board to keep gear shifts smooth and jerk-free.
"This makes you feel like a racing driver" described Jean Jennings, Automobile Magazine's former editor-in-chief.
Consumers can also choose to add-on a Bang & Olufsen sound system for enhanced audio playback. The Audio system features a 12-speaker setup with 1000-watt output and a 10-channel amplifier. Seats are covered with a micro-suede material with red-colored stitching and embroidered GT California Special logos. Additionally, the floor mats are supposedly custom-embroidered as well.
These are some of the contemporary highlights that will hopefully make it enjoyable for everyone else who is not driving.
Price, Colors, And Availability
Consumers who are convinced that they want the 2019 Ford Mustang California Special can do so this summer. The nostalgic sports car will be available in retro-inspired colors such as Velocity Blue, Need for Green, and Dark Highland Green, which is also available for the Bullitt variant. The manufacturer has yet to announce the prices for the upcoming models.
