Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S Revealed: Top-Right Corner Notch, ARCore Support, And More

A new update confirms that the release of Xiaomi Mi 7 was pushed back and the Mi Mix 2S will take its place and launch later this month.

The announcement of Xiaomi Mi 7 confirms that it will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC just like Samsung's Galaxy S9 and S9+.

Industry insiders have not revealed any information as to the Chinese hardware manufacturer's decision to launch the flagship model at a later time. However, speculations suggest that the reason for its delay might be to avoid an outright competition with the South Korean flagship device when it launches mid-March.

An Impressive Replacement

The Mi Mix 2S is a welcome upgrade to the brand's lineup of smartphones, which flaunts unique designs with a very minimal bezel - an ongoing trend among different brands.

Last month, reports revealed some relevant details on the 2S. It has dual-SIM support, an 18:9 display aspect ratio with a 2160 x 1080 display resolution, a built-in IR blaster, a 3,400 mAh rechargeable battery, and Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box.

New Details Revealed

Several sources shared some of the notable features of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S that were not included in the leaked specs last month. The device sports a 5.99-inch touchscreen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, and an 8 GB RAM.

The acquired Firmware files likewise confirm that it supports ARCore technology for augmented reality applications. Other key details on the list are artificial intelligence-assisted dual sensors for its main camera, wireless charging, and a 256 GB internal memory.

Design And Camera Placement

Earlier, an alleged render of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S reportedly leaked, revealing a notable feature. The render revealed the dual-camera module placement for its rear imaging system and the front-facing camera appeared on the upper-right corner of the display.

Meanwhile, a code for the handset's camera application included with the firmware files discredits the hardware design of the leaked image. As indicated, the 2S will adopt the same front-facing camera placement of its predecessors, which places it just under the bottom-right corner within the small bezel.

Moreover, its rear camera is not actually located at the center of its rear panel. Instead, the actual placement is on the upper-left corner of the smartphone. All of this newly revealed information confirms rumors that the new model will retain some design elements of the previous models.

Availability And Pricing

Reports state that the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S is scheduled to launch on March 27. The company has yet to reveal the price, however, based on the smartphone's hardware specifications, it will likely carry a premium price tag.
