The release date for the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch Pokémon game may have been teased by a job listing that was posted by The Pokémon Company.
NPD analyst Mat Piscatella said in November last year that Nintendo Switch demand will reach new heights once the rumored core Pokémon RPG arrives to the hybrid console. Judging from the hype generated by an online job listing, that prediction appears to be true.
'Pokémon' For Nintendo Switch Release Date Revealed?
Fans of the Pokémon franchise are in a frenzy after spotting a job listing for a localization editor. The job itself is nothing special, but because it was posted by The Pokémon Company, it has generated a lot of hype.
The job listing is looking for a localization editor for Spanish, who will work on an at least six-month fixed-term contract. The person will need to know the native slang, phraseologies, and nuances in Spanish and will work on "all editorial facets of video games, and related materials."
Gamers immediately speculated that the job opening was related to the upcoming Pokémon game for the Nintendo Switch, which is rumored to possibly launch this year.
Localization is one of the last stages in completing games, as mostly everything needs to be set before the translations can be started. With the six-month term starting sometime between April and June and lasting until between October and December, it is suggested that the Pokémon RPG for the Nintendo Switch will have a release date of sometime within the fourth quarter of the year, just in time for the holidays.
Of course, there is the definite possibility that the job listing is for another game, such as the mobile game Pokéland. However, Pokémon fans who own a Nintendo Switch or who are waiting for a reason to buy the hybrid console may be hoping that this job listing is a clue for the upcoming arrival of the latest entry in the franchise.
What Do We Know So Far About 'Pokémon' For Nintendo Switch?
There have been many rumors on the upcoming Pokémon RPG for the Nintendo Switch, including that the game will bring back Z-Moves that players can trigger using the Joy-Cons and that the region will be inspired by Italy or Spain. There were also rumors that the new Pokémon title will feature a simplified combat system similar to the Digimon World games.
At E3 2017, the Pokémon game for the Nintendo Switch was only given a release date of 2018 and beyond, alongside Metroid Prime 4, Kirby Star Allies, and Yoshi. Out of these four titles, only Kirby Star Allies has been given a definite release date of March 16. Hopefully, Nintendo will soon provide more information on the other highly anticipated games.
