Rumors on the upcoming Pokémon RPG for the Nintendo Switch have started coming in, generating excitement among fans of the massively popular franchise.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey are both amazing games for the hybrid console. However, the Nintendo Switch demand will likely reach new heights once a Pokémon game is released for the hybrid console.
Pokémon RPG For Nintendo Switch Rumors
A recent rumor for the Nintendo Switch Pokémon RPG is that the trademarks were registered for Pokémon 1 and Pokémon 0, along with their art. The titles and artwork, however, were later proven to be fake, crushing the spirits of Pokémon fans who thought that the rumor mill for the upcoming RPG has started to churn.
So far, the only other rumors on the Pokémon game for the Nintendo Switch are from a late December report by PokéJungle. The report claimed that the new Pokémon RPG will have no new Mega Evolutions, but will bring back Z-Moves that will be triggered by the Joy-Cons. The central plot of the game allegedly "revolves around the conflict between tradition and innovation," with a region that is said to be inspired by Spain or Italy.
Perhaps the biggest tidbit from the PokéJungle report is that the new Pokémon RPG will deviate from the battle mechanics used in previous Pokémon games. It will also introduce a simplified combat system that is similar to Digimon World titles. However, compared to Pokkén Tournament, battles will be in real time, with moves still to be selected within menus.
Lastly, the Pokémon RPG for the Nintendo Switch is said to have a release date of late 2018 or early 2019.
Will The Nintendo Switch 'Pokémon' RPG Appear At Nintendo Direct?
Gamers are hoping that the new Pokémon RPG for the Nintendo Switch will be featured in the next Nintendo Direct. The event is rumored to be broadcast on Jan. 11 with 18 games to be announced.
The still unnamed Pokémon RPG, along with Metroid Prime 4 and the next games in the Kirby and Yoshi franchises, were given a release date of 2018 and beyond at E3 2017. There were even hopes that the new Pokémon game, previously believed to be titled Pokémon Stars as a spinoff of Pokémon Sun and Moon for the Nintendo 3DS, would be released last year.
Whenever the new Pokémon RPG for the Nintendo Switch will arrive, it is a game that owners of the hybrid console will love to have. The only available Pokémon action on the Nintendo Switch is the fighting game Pokkén Tournament DX, which will not be enough for hardcore fans of the franchise.
