Most people have certain habits when browsing the Internet. Some people prefer do it using a smartphone while lying on a couch while some people prefer sitting on a comfy chair. However, a recent survey on people who shop online has brought to light an interesting fact. According to the survey, 11 percent of people, or one of every 10 people surveyed, who shop online, do it completely in the nude.
The PayPal-commissioned survey also revealed a number of other interesting statistics. It seems that 15 percent of people shop online while enjoying an alcoholic beverage. The survey also indicates that 33 percent of online shoppers buy things online while wearing their pajamas.
The survey was conducted to gain insight into the habits of online shoppers during the holiday season. In recent years, more and more people are preferring to shop online during the holiday season to avoid the traffic jams, the long lines and the throngs of people invading malls and other shopping districts during the holidays.
According to PayPal, as much of 86 percent of the survey responders are planning to use a smartphone or a tablet to shop for gifts this Christmas season. In fact, the online payment giant has also stated that it expects that long lines of shoppers during the holidays will be a thing of the past in as little as five years.
The recent PayPal survey also echoes changes in online shopping trends. Another recent survey conducted by ComScore Inc. in June this year showed that 55 percent of people who browse through online retail sites use mobile devices instead of computers. The survey showed that only 45 percent now use traditional computers such as laptops and desktops to shop online. In addition to this, 44 percent of the survey respondents use smartphones while the remaining 11 percent use tablets. However, the number of people using tablets for online shopping is expected to increase as the tablet market gradually grows.
