Deluxe phones have, in the past, been heavy on the price tag but pretty lightweight on the specs. Luxury brand Tonino Lamborghini is on the forefront of changing that with a high-end phone that not only the richest of the rich can afford but also does not let down on specs and hardware.
The 88 Tauri is an Android phone that the company will be releasing by the end of December with the hefty $6,000 asking price.
This premium gadget is, of course, no ordinary phone. It will be made of elegant steel and hand-stitched leather. The steel will have black, gold, or silver options, while the leather will be available in black, brown, red, orange, and blue.
The phone hardware is not necessarily groundbreaking but quite impressive in its own right. Even Android experts are quite pleased with the revealed specs.
"This device features a 5-inch 1080p display, a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, a whopping 64GB of memory, 20-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front camera, and a 3,400 mAh battery," writes AdroidandMe.com.
As the teaser video for the company says, you can take the world's most luxurious selfie with this phone.
Only 1,947 limited edition devices will be manufactured. A number to commemorate the birth year of the company's founder and namesake, Tonino Lamborghini.
Tonino is the son of Ferruccio Lamborghini of the Automobili Lamborghini and Lamborghini Oleodinamica fame. He also opened the Centro Studi e Ricerche Ferruccio Lamborghini, a museum that honors his father's name and legacy.
Although not a phone for everyone's taste or pocket, the 88 Tauri won't be an easily attainable stocking stuffer this Christmas. It certainly takes the luxury phone market to a whole new level of high-end worksmanship, as well as high-tech hardware that will force other luxury phones on the market to start stepping up their specs as well.
