Hyperkin just can't seem to move on from the past, and fortunately, that's the case.
Why? Because aside from aiming to turn smartphones here and there into Game Boys, it's now more or less bringing the original Xbox controller back to life, aptly calling it The Duke.
Just to be clear, it's similar to those massive controllers most gamers spent playing Halo with, and this time around, they'll work on any PC running Windows 10 and the Xbox One.
The Duke Is Coming Back, Thanks To Hyperkin
While The Duke is a new controller from Hyperkin, it's not exactly new across the board. In other words, it's a replica of the original Xbox controller, from the form factor to the 9-foot cable and layout.
However, the big difference here is that it has an LCD screen sitting in the middle, and it's used to sport an animated version of the otherwise motionless Xbox logo.
Put simply, The Duke seems to be set out to give a dose of nostalgia — and possibly a few aching muscles. Jokes aside, it's arguably the perfect-fitting controller for gamers with pretty big hands.
The Duke: Pricing And Release Date
Hyperkin has yet to announce the price and release date of The Duke, but it's worth noting that the Xbox controller is referred to as limited edition.
On that note, considering that many Xbox fans will probably buy one to relive the old days or just for the heck of it, it's not a stretch to think that not everyone will get one.
Speaking of which, The Duke could face the same fate as the Nintendo NES Classic Edition since it's also a limited-edition deal that's sort of banking on nostalgia to sell.
As everyone knows, the NES Classic Edition left many Nintendo fans disappointed when it was discontinued, even though there were still a ton of consumers out there who hasn't gotten ahold of it yet.
It should be noted that anyone who's out for a blast to the past of their gaming days can also rely on the Sega Genesis Flashback for some retro games.
The Bottom Line: Wrapping Things Up
Xbox fans are in for a treat thanks to Hyperkin and The Duke, as they'll soon be able to wield the huge controller yet again and even use it on modern devices such as the PC and the Xbox One, including the Xbox One X that's been recently unveiled at E3 2017 with a $499 price tag.
It's also worth mentioning that Hyperkin has a lot more equipment and hardware for a retro fix, such as the RetroN 1 HD and Cadet controller line.
With everything cleared up, what do you think of the original Xbox controller making a comeback after all this time? Are you as pumped up as we are to see it in the flesh, along with the animated Xbox logo in the middle? If so, feel free to hit us up in the comments section below and let us know.
