Crackdown 3 was once again unveiled at Microsoft's press conference at E3 2017 through a gameplay trailer that showcased massive amounts of destruction in the upcoming shooter.
The trailer also featured an intense Terry Crews, pumping up gamers for the long-delayed Crackdown 3.
Crackdown 3 Returns
Crackdown 3 was first announced at E3 2014, promising more from a franchise known for allowing players to unleash massive mayhem and destruction in the fight against crime.
Fans have long waited for Crackdown 3, not so much due to the relatively flat Crackdown 2 but because of the first Crackdown, revered as one of the best open-world games on the Xbox 360. However, Crackdown 3 was delayed into 2017 due to the crowded release schedule of Microsoft Studios and problems with the game's single-player campaign.
Crackdown 3 is now back in E3, this time with a gameplay trailer that so far offers the best look at the upcoming title.
The video starts with Crews with his trademark intensity taking on the role of Commander Jaxon.
"Today, you throw grenades. Tomorrow, you'll be throwing cars!" Crews said. "Forget dropping bombs. You're dropping buildings!" he added. From these two lines, newcomers to the franchise should have an idea of what Crackdown 3 will offer.
The trailer continues by offering a glimpse of Crackdown 3's actual gameplay, and fans of the series will love the over-the-top action in the futuristic, cyberpunk style. The video shows players using a variety of weapons and abilities to take out enemies and accomplish missions, accompanied by explosions in all shapes and sizes.
One of the most exciting characteristics of Crackdown 3 is how its multiplayer levels will use Microsoft's cloud services to power the mammoth destruction in the title. Structures, roads, and practically everything else can blow up, but players will be able to continue as the necessary computations for the destruction is made on cloud servers. The console, meanwhile, focuses on rendering the visuals, leading to amazing graphics.
Crackdown 3 Launches Alongside Xbox One X
Crackdown 3 will launch exclusively for the Xbox One and Windows PC on Nov. 7, which is the same date of release for the Xbox One X. Crackdown 3 will feature 4K and HDR support, and will look amazing on the console previously known as the Xbox Project Scorpio.
The Xbox One X, which will have a $499 price tag, is described as "the world's most powerful console," boasting a six-teraflop Polaris GPU that is 1.4 times more powerful compared to Sony's PlayStation 4 Pro. The Xbox One X also packs a 2.3 GHz octa-core CPU, supported by 12 GB of RAM.
The list of games that will be able to take advantage of the power of the Xbox One X is viewed as one of the most crucial aspects for it to succeed against the PlayStation 4 Pro. Microsoft said that it will showcase 42 games in E3 2017, with 22 of them exclusive to the Xbox One platform, in response to this.
The insanely fun Crackdown 3 is definitely an important addition to the Xbox One X gaming library, which will further expand throughout the annual video game expo.
