Nokia 9 Prototype Reveals Specs And Features: Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, 4 GB RAM, 5.3-Inch QHD Screen, And Dual-Lens Camera

Images of a Nokia 9 prototype, along with its specifications, have surfaced online, revealing what customers can expect from the upcoming smartphone.

HMD Global, the company which now owns the rights to manufacture and sell Nokia-branded devices, has not yet officially confirmed the Nokia 9, but the images all but confirm the pending arrival of the flagship smartphone.

Hands On With The Nokia 9 Prototype

FrAndroid reportedly received permission to take pictures of the Nokia 9 prototype. However, the permission came with the condition that certain design elements of the smartphone should remain concealed, which is why most of the device is hidden underneath a blue case.

Despite the condition, there are still a lot of things that can be confirmed about the Nokia 9. The first of the features now known to be coming with the Nokia 9 is a vertically arranged dual-camera set-up for its 13 MP rear cameras with laser autofocus and dual LED flash. Samples taken using the smartphone's camera show good detail, hinting at potential to rival the cameras of other flagship devices.

The smartphone is expected to be powered by a stock version of Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. The physical home button for the smartphone is also seen to be similar to what is found in the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6, with the home button doubling as a fingerprint scanner. The power button and volume rocket, meanwhile, are located along the Nokia 9's right side.

It appears that the smartphone will have an aluminum build. A 3.5mm audio jack can be seen at the top panel of the smartphone, while a USB Type-C is located at the bottom panel.

One of the images reveal most of the important specifications for the Nokia 9, including an Always On 5.3-inch Quad HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 clocked at 2.46 GHz, 4 GB of RAM, and 64 GB of internal storage. The smartphone also supports QuickCharge 3.0 technology.

The image also showed that the Nokia 9 is codenamed the Nokia Heart, a name that surfaced early this year. However, the previous Nokia Heart appeared like a smaller and less powerful version of the Nokia 6, while the Nokia 9 carries flagship-level specifications.

Other Nokia 9 News

The images of the Nokia 9 prototype coincide with the design sketches of the smartphone which surfaced last month. The sketches revealed a dual-camera set-up that is similar to the one found in the prototype.

The Nokia 9 is also said to be the first smartphone that will be powered by Nokia's OZO Audio Tech, which will offer users with a 3D audio experience optimized for headphones and devices capable of spatial audio playback. Users will be able to hear audio from the Nokia 9 as they would in real life, including the direction where the sound came from.

A report claimed that the Nokia 9 will arrive in the United States in the third quarter of 2017 with a $699 price tag. Looking at the aforementioned specifications of the smartphone, the premium price tag could be justified. However, it should be noted that due to the device being a prototype, the Nokia 9 may still come with better or worse features upon its launch.
